How My Job As IT Support Open My Eyes To Software Development Career
After I graduate from my university as an Agricultural Engineering, I begin to worry about how could I get a job due to the high rate of employment in my country. I begin to worry and restless then I saw an advert through a group I benefited from while an undergraduate which says they need an IT support engineer. Then I quickly pick the offer because before I got university admission, I used to stay with my brother that is a Computer Engineering. Learned how to repair, installation of Operating system .system maintenance, replacement of system part for like 4 years because that his a major source of living every day I go there to help him out and learn from him before I got admission into the university. Still practicing the knowledge while an undergraduate but not focusing on it.
As I see the opportunity I contacted the HR manager in charge that am interested and I went for an interview and I was selected, with that fact that being one of their trainee student in the past makes them happier, that had grown to have skills in It support. So I started working with them gaining more knowledge in the field.
After a year I was introduced to the company website. As I junior staff worked with the head of IT units, he teaches me how to use WordPress, to edit and update the company site .then he advise me to use the company resources to learn HTML/CSS, as the basics of programming. Then I followed the path and since then I have developed an interest in software engineering. I watched series of YouTube channel to learn knowledge . after some years of self-taught then I realized I have to learn from professional to be relevant in the field and to improve my skills to a professional level, then applied for microverse an online coding school where software developer was thought on how to work remotely in an international environment.
My ability to install third-party software, problem-solving skills clients helps me to communicate well with my stand-up team while learning software development.
My experience as an It support and fast learning ability makes software development easier for me I will continue to build my career on the field beyond Microverse even when I land Job as a developer
